How can I book a camel riding tour?
Book your tour easily online via our website, via WhatsApp or by phone.
When do the guided camel rides start?
From Tuesday to Saturday
The „Calderon Hondo Camel Rides Vulcano“ tour starts at 10:00 AM. The „Camel Ride“ tour starts at 12:00 PM. We offer further tour times depending on availability and demand.
How do I get to you?
Best by car.
Taxi from Corralejo approx. €20
The next bus stop is a 15-minute walk away, where bus number 8 stops.
We do not offer a transfer.
Which payment methods are accepted?
We currently only accept cash payments. We plan to offer further payment options in the future. The nearest cash machine is 5 minutes away, located next to the pharmacy in Lajares.
Are the camel rides suitable for children?
Yes, children can participate at any age under supervision. Depending on their size and weight, children can ride on their own or sit together with an accompanying person on a camel.
Is camel riding safe?
Yes, camel riding is generally safe, our animals are well-trained and they are accompanied by experienced tour guides.
Before setting off, you will receive a brief instruction on how to mount and dismount safely, as well as how to behave during the ride.
How long does a typical tour last?
The „Calderon Hondo Camel Ride Volcano Tour“ lasts approximately 120 minutes.
The „Camel Ride Tour“ lasts approximately 30 minutes.

We require 24 hours' notice for any changes or cancellations.
What should I wear for camel riding?
We recommend:

Do I need experience for camel riding?
No. Camel riding is suitable for beginners. Our guides will explain everything to you before the tour begins.
Is there a maximum weight for participants?
For safety and animal welfare reasons, a maximum weight of 100kg applies.
May I take photos?
Yes, photos and videos are welcome during the tour. Please ensure you hold your camera or smartphone securely.
For safety reasons, please do not take photos while the camel is getting up and kneeling down.
Is camel riding strenuous?
Camel riding does not require any special fitness. However, the unusual movement of the camel may take some getting used to at first.
How do you mount a camel?
The camel kneels down to allow you to mount. Once you are seated securely, the camel stands up, first with its hind legs and then with its front legs. Our guides will assist you with this.
Can pregnant women take part in camel riding?
Pregnant women can participate in camel rides. If in doubt, please consult your doctor.
Can we all sit on the same camel?
On our camels, one person sits on the right and one on the left. Depending on size and weight, a toddler can sit on a parent's lap or a child can sit in the middle between the parents.
Where everyone sits on the camels depends on many factors. This is why it can only be decided on site.
What happens in bad weather?
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the tour may be postponed or cancelled. In such cases, we will inform you in good time and offer to rebook. Your safety is our top priority.
How are the camels kept?
The welfare of our animals is of the highest priority. Our camels receive regular veterinary care, adequate rest periods, high-quality food, and access to water. The animals' workload is carefully monitored.
Can I book a private camel tour?
Yes, upon request we also offer private tours for couples, families, groups or special occasions.
Do I need to book in advance?
Early booking is recommended, especially during peak season or on holidays, to better guarantee your preferred date.
Is camel riding animal-friendly?
Camels have been an important part of agriculture on the Canary Islands for over 600 years. The animals are part of our family, and we treat them with great care and respect. These tours allow us to preserve this protected breed and share its beauty with visitors.
Is it like riding a horse?
Unlike with horses, you sit in comfortable seats to the left and right of the camel. Camels move differently from horses. Their gait is calmer and more rocking, which many guests find to be a special experience.
